There’s a reason CoComelon is played on repeat on all our TVs. Our kids love the show. They love the format and they’ve fallen in love with all the characters. Now, we’re going to have even more to watch since a spinoff show featuring Cody has been announced. Here’s what parents need to know.
What’s the CoComelon spinoff show?
The spinoff show is going to focus on JJ’s best friend, Cody Green and his family, which will be titled Cody Time. Cody has been a prominent character in CoComelon, first as a classmate to JJ, then becoming his next-door neighbor. Now, it’s his time to shine in his own spinoff musical show that will follow him as he gets ready to become a big brother.
The show will focus on “The Greens,” who have diverse backgrounds. Cody’s dad, Kwame, works as a chef comes from Ghanian and Jamaican descent, and his mom, Toni, is Black and works as a pediatrician.
“Cody’s been a fan favorite to our global audience for years,” Patrick Reese, general manager of CoComelon at Moonbug Entertainment, said in a press release. “We’re excited to launch It’s Cody Time and give fans a chance to get to know Cody and his family a bit better.”
When can we watch Cody Time?
The musical preschool show debuted on May 11, 2022, and it premiered with two episodes with a new one dropping each Wednesday. The first episode “Cody’s Spy Song” has Cody pretending to be a detective while trying to figure out why mysterious things keep happening at home.
The second episode “I’m Going to Be a Big Brother,” follows Cody and his family as they get ready to welcome another kid into the house. It talks about what Cody can expect when his baby sister is born.
Sorry, Cody Time Won’t be on Netflix.
A lot of parents were introduced to CoComelon when the YouTube series hit Netflix. But that won’t be the case for the spinoff.CoComelon – It’s Cody Time isn’t going to be available on streaming platforms, but they will exclusively be available on its spinoff YouTube channel, for free.
